This project was inspired by my strongest female relationships, an ode to women who inspire, uplift and challenge me. By re-appropriating the word Mistress to it's initial meaning, a woman in control of herself, from the demeaning rhetoric of patriarchal society.
The covers of the book, as well as the box that contains this work, have shuttered connections to evoke thoughts of room dividers for a more intimate feeling as the viewer interacts with the piece.
