My goal in this work was to create wearable sculpture that held the user in a comforting embrace while challenging the comfort of touch.
Hold Me !
These jackets were inspired by the importance of physical touch. From platonic intimacy to romantic, touch is an important aspect to our daily lives. Using digital embroidery over vinyl I was able to create semi-stiff hands to wrap around the body which move with the user.
The heavy weight of the felt hands, when folded snap into place, provides warmth and comfort like a hug.
